A bus conveying students from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto to Zaria, has been reported attacked by bandits in Zamfara on Friday, 17th February.
The report revealed that before the attack, the bus had earlier developed a fault at Tureta, around five O’ clock in the evening before reaching Tsafe, an area within Zamfara State.
Speaking with The News Digest press, Sawanatu Salihu, a victim of the Sokoto- Zaria attack and 200 level Education Biology student disclosed that when they reached Tsafe, a village in Zamfara State, the driver suspected that something was going wrong in front as there was no car coming in the other direction.
“As we reached Tsafe village, we heard the firing of guns with a different sound as we were barraged with bullets coming from both sides.They kept targeting the tires but the driver added more speed and that was how God saved us.”
Also, another bus heading to Kaduna was attacked in Zamfara State, which left Aminu, a 300-level student of Education Chemistry shot by unknown gunmen on Friday.
According to the information gathered by The News Digest press, Aminu is currently responding to treatment as he is in critical condition.
