Federal Government Approves Broadband for Usman Danfodio University

The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy has given an approval of the development of broadband to the Usmanu Danfodiyo university, Sokoto.

This was contained in a message sent by Mallam Ahmad Chafe, the director of Management Information System(MIS) on Tuesday, 30th May to a WhatsApp platform named: Blended Learning.

The message read in part: “This is to inform the University Community that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy has approved the deployment of Broadband consisting of 80 no Wireless Access Points, a couple of inverters with batteries and solar panels, 155 MBPS bandwidth capacity.”

According to Mallam Ahmed Chafe, the engineers are well set to begin the installation of those wireless by God’s will.

“We are already in receipt of most of the facilities and the Engineers are on ground to commence deployment by tomorrow, God willing. The details of the scope of the deployment will be known by tomorrow, God willing,” he noted.

“The wireless is for the enhancement of development of the university community as well as students. He said further that the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) is the authorized agency to checkmate the implementation of broadband.”
