Morning dew has wet the dried leaf from being yield. When the school released the statement for the conduct of the 2023 Students Union elections, students were rejoicing like a minor who had a candle on his hand to lick.
What came to students’ mind was that another era of new development will encircle the air of hopelessness on Danfodiyo Campus, and they will be able to choose their candidates of their choice. Campaigns invaded every four angles of Danfodiyo Varsity following the lifting of a ban on campaigning.
On Thursday, 8th of June, the day of new hope full blue sky and denied thousands of pessimistic thoughts from existing. UDUS decides—thousands of students came out to exercise their democratic rights. To their surprise, they only saw five posts with opposition. Why other posts are unopposed is still left in the air.
Dig deep, students voted for the candidate of their choice on the available posts, but their mood concerning the posts that were nowhere to be found instilled their mind.
They have voted and the results have been declared, the winners have been announced. But the president has been seen by many students before his inauguration as a president because he is an unopposed president. Many students said even without student votes he has already won. Anyways, that rule of the electoral committee.
Our new SU executives for the 2022/2023 academic session were inaugurated on Friday, 9th June. We urge you to exercise your primary assignment without any fear and intimidation, the sword of power lies in your hand. As you were inaugurated to your various offices, students were expecting you to showcase your promising agenda and be able to prioritize the students’ concern on what they are facing.
Students rejoicing, and aiming for new development from the new excos because this is a new era, and it must produce new development with their full gyration. The promises and the agenda you planned for the greatness of the school has to be put in a race. Election has ended and you have been elected and inaugurated, what next is to put your agenda into action.
