Security has been one of the most indispensable necessities for mankind. Guarding privacy and ensuring the safety of dear ones has remained an ancient culture for a man.
Therefore, it is a must-do for any government to protect the lives and properties of its citizens. But the issue of security in Nigeria has reached a stratospheric proportion and becomes something of grave concern to all well-meaning citizens of the West African country.
It remains the most ravaging issue affecting the nation’s economy, social, political; education and religion.
According to the Global Terrorism Index (GTI), Nigeria has two of the five deadliest terrorist groups in the world: Boko Haram and Fulani extremists, unleashing their violence activities in the North-West and North-Eastern part of the country.
And no fewer than 8372 people lost their lives to security challenges in Nigeria in 2021.
The the existence of insecurity in a nation is a breach of law and order. The failure to comply with law and order amounts to several atrocities like killing, kidnapping, banditry and abduction.
A nation without law and order will be solitary, nasty, brutish, poor and nasty as postulated by Thomas Hobbes. Thus, insecurity thereby creates multifarious problems which hinder our national development in aspects of economy, political, social interaction, and even prompt inconvenience among people.
