Recently, beautiful pictures of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto’s campus have kept surfacing on the spaces of social media, particularly Facebook.
The pictures, always with inscription ‘REDMI NOTE 11 l SHOT BY MAYOR,’ are the product of Ibrahim Dagunduro Abdulsomad, a 200-level student of Computer Science and an indigene of Kwara State.
Popularly known as Mayor, Abdulsomad has taken pictures of almost all the faculties in Danfodiyo varsity.
Not only that. He has ensured that almost every corner of the UDUS main campus—even including the teaching hospital(UDUTH) and the City Campus— is now clearly visualized in photos.
In an interview with the News Digest Press, Mayor revealed that his passion for taking pictures of the UDUS campus was born out of the fact that he is good at photography and editing.
“When I gained admission to Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, I stopped everything so that I would be able to concentrate.
“But one day I just reasoned that I am good at photography and I’m good at editing. That was when I started snapping UDUS around.”
Mayor started his journey with the Faculty of Art and Islamic Studies.
“The first faculty I snapped up was faculty of Art and Islamic studies. I just snapped for fun but as I posted it, people turned up.”
Mayor said he nearly threw in the towel when some people started tagging him as a jobless.
“I nearly gave up at first. But on the day when Salahudeen Bello, a staff member of the UDUS social media committee, reposted my work, I was extraordinarily happy. From there I began to post across all my social media accounts.”
“All thanks to Salahuddeen Bello Bala because he’s the one that even inspired me to continue snapping.”
“And my advice for people is to keep following their dreams and the love for what they are good at, there is a great future for everyone who has a dream”, he added.
