By Habeeb Olokooba

In a bid to battle against academic failure, students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto have deviced different reading strategies.

While some people read during the day, others read during the early night and leave the class before midnight. It takes an exceptional situation or condition to find many students reading till day break(TDB). However, even when examination is not drawing near, there are still Danfodites who are top fans of TDB.

Anyways. Whether you do TDB willingly or due to some pressure, here are some basic facts you need to know.

Survey the Class

This might look simple at its face, but complying to this might save your life and being deterrent to this might as well kill you.

Make sure the class you are using is not empty, and try using a class that is not far away from anticipation of help in case of any unforeseen emergency. Remember the B128 saga? It is still fresh and hot. In order save yourself, survey the class first.

Don’t do it Alone

Yes. You might not feel comfortable having a reading partner, however, if you are reading through the night, you just have to get a partner or else you might lose your valuables to thieves.

The purpose of having a partner is that when you are engulfed with sleep, your partner can watch your back for you. Remember not everyone in class is there to read. Some are there to carry out their evil vices.

I remember a brother who went to read overnight all for him to wake up and see his power bank missing, just because his partner stepped out without informing him.

Sleepy Heads Should Avoid it

This is one of the most important conditions. When you are a sleepy head, abeg, don’t do TDB because your whole exercise of not sleeping comfortably in your room would turn out to be a vex exercise. In fact, you would still end up dosing off during lecture.

Also, when you have health complications or your body system isn’t fit enough to do midnight reading, stay clear off it.

Day reading or night reading, all is to enhance us in our academic capacity. May we all win in the end.
