The Greenline Nurture Initiative(GNI) in collaboration with Joy for Needy Women and Girls Foundation, Dot Glasses, IBWU Foundation, and TAPE Empowerment Foundation has organized a 2-day vision care outreach event for people in Sokoto State.
The program, which lasted for 2 days, from the 6th and 7th of July, took place at the School Mini Mart Square, Main Campus, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
According to the organizers, over 300 people benefited from the IBWU VISION CARE initiative outreach. This includes free eye checkups, free glasses for people diagnosed with long-sightedness or short-sightedness, and a standby nurse for people whose ailments require a prescription beyond glasses.
Speaking with the NewsDigest Press, Hadini Ikahani, one of the beneficiaries of the program, extended appreciation to the organizers for the free checkup and glasses.
“This is the third year that I have been experiencing blury eyesight, but I have never visited any hospital because I do not have the financial capacity but now I have glasses that help me see better, thanks to this program,” Hadini expressed.
In an interview with the News Digest Press, Prof Umar Aliyu, the Dean of Student Affairs, commended the effort of the organizers of the outreach, thanking and pleading for an extension of the program to help others benefit from it.
“I wish the days could be extended for more people to benefit from this kind gesture.”
