The students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto have reacted to the reviewed second semester’s academic calendar released by the management on Friday, 1st September.

According to the calendar signed by the Director of the Academic Planning Unit, Dr. K. G. Muhammad, the second semester’s lecture will begin on Monday, 11th September and end on Saturday, 2nd December 2023.

The examination will commence from Monday, 4th December to Saturday, 30th of December 2023, while the next academic session will begin on Monday, 29th January 2024.

The calendar has attracted positive reactions from the students of the university, having considered the earlier one as long and protracted.

Speaking with The News Digest Press, Jumoke Esuola, a final year student of Sociology, expressed her excitement, adding that it would afford her the opportunity to round up her program in 2023.

“Hopeful and at the same time motivated to put in my best because I know my days of being an undergraduate are numbered and it ends with 2023,” she said.

“I had witnessed three ASUU strikes, which has tampered with my years of stay on campus.”

Also, Muheeb Mashood, a 200-level student law student said the reviewed calendar favored him, because it matched up with his expectation of going back home to see his family next year.

“The fact that I will go back home in December to relieve myself and happily to see my family makes me so happy,” he said.

Amos Abayomi, a 300-level student of Political Science on his own part said:” The calendar is nice because it will facilitate our academic journey.”
