Of the Successful Coup in UDUS

By Habeeb Olokooba

May the Niger Republic not happen to the Federal Republic of UDUS. Is that a prayer? No! It’s not. In fact the happening in the republic of Niger befell UDUS too. Coup is the order of the day. We have seen the government in Niger Republic, as well as Gabon toppled in a bloodless coup. I guess the trend hit the UDUS Students’ Union Government too.

In the early hours of Friday, the cloud was conceived. But what did it mean? A pour! A pour of shame. The sky poured and the head became missing. An unforeseen coup took the head away.

When tears last till late night, goodness awaits daybreak. Rain is a symbol of relief. But the Friday rain left some people in pain. A sharp pain in the heart is what the Tinubu on the soil of UDUS felt. Before rainfall, they were busy discussing administration. But the sky poured and he lost his job.

Sadly he is not going alone, he is going with the whole cabinet. The whole executive, the authoritarian speaker and the sullen SRA. Now things of the past. History.

While the fight for might is over, woebegone befall my heart. In Tinubu’s words, according to Olagunju’s ‘Tinubu Pig Metaphor’ (an article published with Nigeria Tribune) : “We went into the pond and wrestled with a pig.We got dirty, and cleaned up. That is why I am here today.” Sadly, the reverse is the case in UDUS, some people went to the pond, wine and dined with a pig. They got dirty and were left in the dilemma of how to clean up at the moment. My brother is a victim, my enemy is too.

There is a saying in Yoruba, “Àgùntàn tóbá bájá rìn ájègbé,” which means “a lamb in dog’s company will most probably devour the doo-doo” but most of the white lambs in the immediate past administration never saw this coming. They have worked really hard and represented their respective offices well. They served well as the hand of the government but where there is headache, the whole body is not at ease. And their efforts? To waft away cause ‘no evidence’

They wanted to serve us for a long time, but the school had to save its dear face. Or how will an owner open his eyes and wait for “Talubo ” to enter. The SU craziness is as big as talubo in the eyes of the school management. It’s just sad even the innocent had toFriday, bear the brunt.
