Why I Chose UDUS: Hanbali’s Story

Abdulhamid Hambali was offered admission to study Veterinary medicine at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto(UDUS) in 2015. When he finished secondary school, the intention of furthering his education kept him in doubt.

Standing at a crossroad in his academic journey, the thought of where is the best university in Nigeria weighed heavily on his mind

When Hanbali wanted to register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the native of Katsina kept worrying about which university to pick as first choice.

There and then, he quickly recalled the experience shared by one of his brilliant teachers, Mr. Baha’udden, a graduate of UDUS and his biology teacher.

“One rainy afternoon, after a particularly captivating Biology class, Mr. Baha’uddeen shared his educational journey with our class,” Hanbali narrated.

“He began by telling us about his humble beginnings in a nearby village and how he had dreamt of pursuing a higher education. Against all odds, he had gained admission inUDUS where he pursued a degree in Microbiology.”

“He spoke of the rigorous academic curriculum, the world-class professors who had mentored him, and the vibrant campus life that had shaped him into the person he had become.”

Bewildered by the story of his teacher, Hanbali chose UDUS.

Hanbali said Mr. Baha’uddeen He had not only graduated with top honors but also gone to conduct groundbreaking research in Microbiology, earning accolades and recognition in both national and international levels through his MSc. and PhD journey.

He said his words struck a chord within him, igniting a desire to follow in his footsteps.

I Balance My Time To Avoid Academic Challenges

He didn’t face myriad challenges.

“During my university years, I didn’t encounter many academic challenges, except for balancing my time because of the demanding nature of my Veterinary Medicine course.”

“To ensure academic success and balance in my academic sojourn, l managed by prioritizing tasks and deadlines, structure daily and weekly schedules using effective study techniques and staying focused and minimizing distractions.

The graduate of the 2021/2022 academic session also said he used to make time for self-care.
