A scholar once said that a woman is the full circle, within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.
History has it that women are the strongest creatures on Earth. Although men rule the land, women give life to them and are always stronger than them. Women across different countries face a variety of challenges that hinder their progress and equality. These challenges range from gender-based violence to limited access to education and economic opportunities. However,upon excruciable torment in a woman’s life, her demeanor and existence are questioned. Women’s predicament varies in her different settlement.
India
The most prevailed challenges battling women is gender-based violence such as domestic violence, sexual harassment, and dowry-related crimes. To annihilate the imprudity, Indian government implemented various measures, such as the establishment of special courts for speedy trials, the introduction of helpline numbers for immediate assistance, and the enactment of stringent laws like the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act. However, ensuring the effective implementation of these measures and raising awareness about women’s rights remain crucial.
Afghanistan
women face numerous challenges due to cultural norms and incessant conflict such as low access to girl’s education with a significant gender gap in literacy rates. In order to curb the bias, the government along with international organizations collaborated in taming the inequality and accrued more opportunities for girls to receive quality education. Non-profit organizations like the Afghan Institute of Learning and the Afghan Women’s Network also played a crucial role in empowering women through education and vocational training programs. Despite these efforts, inequality remains a stagnant barrier for Afghan women.
Saudi Arabia
Being a religious nation, women deplore their rights and freedoms. The country has made significant progress in recent years with the lifting of the ban on women driving, as well as granting them the right to attend sporting events and work in various industries. However, there are still challenges to be addressed, such as the male guardianship system, which limits women’s autonomy and decision-making power. Advocacy groups like Women’s March Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Women’s Empowerment Initiative are working to push for further reforms and raise awareness about women’s rights.
However, in Nigeria, challenges encountering by Nigeria’s women are noncount, raging from the disdain of their efforts and social violence and challenges they are subjected to such include GBV, gender-based violence, child marriage, and limited access to healthcare.
