The Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto is set to conduct a comprehensive 5-day workshop for its final year students.
The workshop, according to the flier, is scheduled to run from Monday, October 16th to Friday, October 20th, taking place at the department of mathematics lab, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM daily.
Speaking with the News Digest Press, Isaq Abubakar Olaitan, the President of MAN-UDUS and a distinguished 400-level Mathematics student, explained that the primary objective of this workshop is to equip the finalists with essential skills, including how to use mathematical software for their projects, review research papers, and publish articles and the likes.
“Our final year students will receive hands-on training in utilizing mathematical software, a critical tool for their projects,” said Olaitan. “Many mathematics projects involve intricate graphs, which can only be effectively created using specialized mathematical software.”
Speaking further, he highlighted the indispensable role of software in mathematical studies, underlining that a dedicated session will be devoted to teaching students how to evaluate and review research papers. Additionally, he pointed out the importance of article publication in advancing students’ careers and ensuring their future success in mathematics.
