The Cause of Declination in Student’s CGPA

By Bashirat Durojaye

Sometimes examination is not just answering questions, it is the stance of comprehending the difficulty of a question and providing relevant and consistent answers. Sequel to this, GPA depreciation may be triggered by failure to meet the examination requirements. This is one of the many factors that reinforce poor grades in students.

The Grade Point Average is a metric used by educational institutions to evaluate students’ academic progress and success. It ranges from 4.50 – 5.00 as first-class honor, 3.50 -4.49 as a second-class upper, 3.50 – 4.49 as a second-class lower which is equivalent to 2:2, 1.50 – 2.39 as the third-class honor. To graduate with first-class honors remains a staglock. A lot of factors tug on a student’s dream to attain first-class honors.

However, the struggles to stand out with rocky grades remain a gridlock for students due to some triggering factors such as toxic relationships, unconscious time management, and school overstress just to mention a few.

School overstress like fixed classes, changing of lecture’s venue, and cancellation of lectures are spontaneous acts tugging student performance and making it difficult to schedule time for rigorous reading for examination. In a case of power outage and water dearth affects student academics subconsciously.

Toxic relationships will always have a negative effect on the mind of any student experiencing it. A common attitude of students to engage in relationships has a tendency to drain physically and emotionally in the sense of distraction and troubling of mind.

The cause of the poor decline in GPA academic grades remains a stringent gasp among students after answering full-hitch questions in the examination hall with the expectations of A’s in the results. Not answering the examination question the way the lecturer wants can be a hindrance to being awarded a better grade.
