I must say, the current Students’ Union Caretaker Committee’s efforts are commendable. In the history of Danfodiyo, this administration, led by Comrade Abdullahi Sanusi, stands out for prioritizing students’ interests in ways that surpass expectations.
Whether it’s the restoration of light across the hostels or the reconstruction of the hotel’s water reservoir, their achievements are noteworthy.
We believe and trust the Students’ Union because there is an obvious reflection of its duties across the hostel, including the restoration of water and more.
But I think the attention of the union needs to be drawn to the SU secretariat as the dire state of disrepair is evident in the students’ union government office, marked by spoiled chairs, damaged ceilings, and decrepit tables, underscores an urgent need for comprehensive rehabilitation.
Beyond mere aesthetics, this dilapidation reflects systemic neglect and inefficiency, compromising the functionality and dignity of a space meant to serve as the hub of student governance and representation.
A well-maintained office is essential for fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment among students, providing them with a conducive environment to organize initiatives.
Moreover, the restoration of essential amenities such as the air conditioning system is crucial for ensuring the comfort and well-being of occupants, particularly during the heat periods.
I can say the significance of a well-maintained office extends beyond the confines of campus life. When stakeholders, notable elites, or dignitaries visit the students’ union government office, they should encounter an environment that reflects professionalism, competence, and pride.
A rehabilitated office not only showcases the institution’s symbolic commitment to excellence but also demonstrates a willingness to prioritize the needs of the student body and uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in governance.
