Some days ago, I saw a viral tweet from the controversial Daniel Regha trending on Facebook where he was lashing out at one time Grammy winning artist , Temilade Openiyi, making reference to her being a promising upcomer who had no hit singles to her name.
In his words: “Tems only gets attention as a performer when she sings Essence. She’s a promising upcomer, and is also the main reason why Wizkid was able to revive his music career with the MIL album; But aside from collabs, she literally has no hit song of her own. Hope she steps it up. No offense,” Daniel Regha tweeted.
“Tems saved Wizkid’s career,” Another twitter user said.
From the above tweet, Regha portrayed the fact that both Wizkid and Tems needed each other when they made Essence. Wizkid to revive his dying fame and Tems to come to limelight so the world could hear her.
Fast forward to this past week, a series of Twitter users rained backlash on both artists as they responded to the wait for you crooner for putting up a wack show the past week.
“Is this who you said is replacing Tiwa savage,” A Twitter user said quoting one of the videos from her performance at Lollapalooza.
“All thanks to Wizkid for giving her the biggest hit of her life,” Another Twitter said.
Well enough of all the confusion. Where the real question lies is “Who is getting revived? Is it Ibrahim Balogun or Temilade Openiyi?”
What do you think?
