The Editor-in-Chief of the News Digest Press and 200-level law student at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Shereefdeen Ahmad has bagged male Campus Journalist of the Year award for the 2020/2021 academic session.
Shereefdeen clinched the male category together with Feature Writer of the Year award at the Annual Symposium of the National Association of Campus Journalists(NACJ), UDUS chapter held on Saturday, 21st January at the School Auditorium.
NACJ is the mother board of all the five campus press outlets on the soil of Danfodiyo varsity_The News Digest, Pen Press, Vanguad, Gamji and Inter-Watach press board.
The Campus Journalist of the Year award is a prize for the outstanding male and female campus journalists in an academic session. This year’s award was named in honour of Professor Jimoh Olaiya Amzat(JOA) for his persisted support in sustainance of UDUS Campus Journalism.
In an interview with Shereefdeen Ahmad, he expressed his gratitude and stated that the feat wouldn’t have been possible without support of all the entire members of the News Digest Press.
“Alhamdulillah,”he said.”I’m really glad to have won the most prestigious campus journalism award in UDUS.”
“As a student journalist, it’s something I have always look up to, at least, as per campus journalism in within the domain of UDUS.”
“I really appreciate the effort of all the entire members of the News Digest Press. And , I’m dedicating this award to them.”
Meanwhile, another Digest journalist, Amanatullah Ismail, emerged as the winner of Gender Equality Reporter award.
