Sokoto is a yearlong hot and warm state where rainfall is infrequent and heavy sunshine is experienced.
Land of the caliphate, where knowledge and morale resided, both residents and aliens can attest to the fickleness of the weather. Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto is situated in the North Western part of the country with highest degree of sunshine, a testament to the degree of sun and its stringent.
The hot sun coupled with the intense heat is way too difficult to bear especially for an alien. The sun is 39° degrees Celsius during a regular daylight time. Trekking from one vicinity to another under the stringent sun is arduous particularly for students of another state; the indigenous are not left out in tagging complaints about the harshness of the weather.
Meanwhile, houseflies in Sokoto are another mystery encountered that hunt during the day and night. The flies would parade leftover foods, open wounds, or feces not only that, flies would dart the body humming their familial speedy sound besides the eardrum. Oftentimes, the flies serve as bodyguard parading everywhere the body heads to, triggering the hand to be waving right and left. To say the fact is to affirm that students in such vicinity are survivors of the trenches
Talking of mosquitoes. The school’s health center is always frequent with students bitten by mosquitoes which has resulted in malaria. In the endless struggle to do without any glitches in academic pursuits, many students have resorted to the habit of night reading, still mosquitoes never ceased to ruminate in a bloody feast.
Meanwhile, Mosquitoes are known to be dangerous creatures but the one in Sokoto is more hazardous, invisible, dreary, and more poisonous. Whoever survives in Sokoto, can surely live in any part of the world.
