The Uncertainty of Life

By Raji Toheeb

Gone were those days when Blackberry phones were valued by all and sundry, when boot cuts were almost worn by big boys; when the shirt inscribed with the word “Police” had the largest votes and when Symbians’ phones were the talk of the town.

In fact, Chinese phones had a lot of subscribers, Nokia Asa Ias used by the rich, and Gucci was a preferable choice.

But here comes the turn of Iphone; a symbol of the good life among the ignorants, whose owners are respected and showered undeserved praises by illogical girls and people, thinking that the end of glory is owing one.

Let the deaf ladies hear, let the glitter seekers know and let the unmannered boys be aware that life turns. If it favors someone or something today, it may dish out sorrow tomorrow. Good life should not be measured by owning an iPhone. There is more to that. Today, the iPhone wins the world. However, tomorrow might come with another product.

It is very sad and disheartening to hear stories of girls who have lost their virginity to irresponsible boys; all in the name of having it ,and the boys who have indulged in every crooked way— from stealing, scamming, duping and the likes—just to get one.

Hey! Come closer. “The old have once been youths”, says a popular Yorùbá adage. Certainly, the iPhone has gained an audience every day, and will one day lose its stand for another thing to emerge. Never spoil your life, and never be deceived with its color or the love it gets from people because nothing lasts forever.

Be in the know that, “all that glitters are not gold”, and ” he who laughs last, laughs best”. Be content with the little you have. Steadfastness and prayers are part of the keys to success. Whatever is destined for you, will never miss you.
