Recently, a website that publishes job opportunities in Nigeria, Top Nigerian Jobs claimed that Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto(UDUS) has opened its online application portal for the 2023 recruitment exercise.
It stated that the job vacancies at the school are mainly for non-academic, academic, administrative and medical staff, adding that prospective applicants are expected to have an active email account and phone number alongside relevant qualifications.
“We wish to inform the general public that UDUSOK recruitment portal 2023 is currently open for application. The school management invites interested and qualified persons who wish to build and advance their careers at UDUSOK to submit an application,”the post reads in part.
The Claim
UDUS has opened the online application portal for the 2023 jobs recruitment exercise.
Verification
To verify the authenticity of the claim, the Digest Press have visited the school’s official Facebook handle—which serves as update page of the varsity—and found nothing associated with opening of application portal for the 2023 recruitment exercise.
Also, a careful perusal of the university’s official website produced the same result.
Moreso, none of the famous campus press outlets published a content relating to the opening of the online application portal.
Meanwhile, further findings revealed that the school maganagement had released a disclaimer debunking the information of the purported jobs recruitment.
The disclaimer, dated Tuesday, 22nd September 2023 and signed by the university registrar, N.B Belko, warned the public to desist from such claims.
“All persons, corporations, agencies and the gene al public are enjoined to disregard the advertisement and all its contents. Whosoever responds to or
relates in any way with the persons or contacts provided in the purported advertisement, does so at his own peril,” the disclaimer reads in part.
While the disclaimer could be mainly targeted at a job advertisement, the Digest Press have also confirmed that the university did not open an online application portal for the exercise.
Speaking with the school’s director of Management and Information System, Mallam Ahmad Issa Chafe said the link attached to the post does reflect any online recruitment page.
“Please note that this link does not take you to any online recruitment page.”
The Digest Press also verified the link and found out that it only takes users to the front page of the school official website, and not recruitment page as claimed by the post.
“In any case, any post that is presently circulating about online recruitment for UDUS is false. Do not repeat, do not act positively on it. It is false,”he added.
Verdict
The claim by the Top Nigerian Jobs’ website that UDUS has opened its online application portal for the 2023 recruitment is false.
