Nine UDUS Students Selected for IEPA Scholarship Award

The Ilorin Emirates Professors’ Association (IEPA) has selected Nine Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) students among the 20 successful applicants for the 2023 scholarship award.

The scholarship is awarded to the undergraduate students with best academic performance in their various universities across five Local Governments in Kwara State. The Local Government Areas: Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Ilorin West, Moro and Asa.

Founded in 2020, Ilorin Emirate Professors’ Association (IEPA) aimed at fostering the sense of belonging among the professors of their district and provide educational opportunities for their undergraduates in Nigeria Universities. The association currently has 125 registered professors across universities, within and outside Nigeria.

Following the selection, the beneficiaries were given the cheque with the sum of N100,000, a certificate and a Qur’an.

Speaking with The News Digest Press, one of the UDUS beneficiaries, Abdulrahman Abdulganiyu Akanbi, a student of Islamic Studies from Ilorin West Local Government, said he give thanks to Almighty Allah because the opportunity will add value to his life and also be able to purchase some items that will help his academic career.

“It will further add to my morale in academic excellency, and also pursue me to keep applying for scholarships in terms of education,” he said.

Also, a beneficiary from Ilorin South, Sakariyah Sodiq a student of Primary Education expressed that the scholarship is a divine intervention that will assist his academic career.

Sakariyah, in his words, appreciates the association for the great opportunity they have given him to be selected among the applicants across the Nigeria Universities.

Another beneficiary from Ilorin South, Shuaib Medinat, a student of Energy and Applied chemistry lauded the effort of IEPSA for their wonderful impacts on the continuous assistance for the Emirate students in order to facilitate their academic goals.

“I will utilise the scholarship award for the complement of my undergraduate program and also help to cater for my needs,” she said.

Meanwhile other successful applicants from UDUS are: Isiaq Ibrahim, a student of Primary Education and Abdulrauf Ahmad, a student of Statistics from Moro; Yusuf Yusuf Olayinka, a student of Pharmaceutical Sciences from Asa Local Government; Ismail Shittu, a student of Applied Chemistry and Yusuf Abdulbaki, a student of Mechanical Engineering from Ilorin East; Hamzah Haleemah, a student of Biochemistry from Ilorin West Local Government.
