The journalism for Liberty Training has selected three News Digest Editors and four members for the 2024 journalism for Liberty Training.
The 2024 Journalism for Liberty Training is aimed at promoting a better and prosperous reporting system in Nigeria and in Africa. It aims to educate and inspire people to advocate for liberty, and influence public opinion and public policy through media, research and training.
The selected participants will be having two-days bootcamp on 17th and 18th of May in Abuja, Nigeria where they will be exposing to training, networking and possibly being accepted as a fellow for the year’s cohort, to push for pro-freedom stories that shape the society and bring about liberty of lives and property and even the pursuit of happiness.
In an interview with The News Digest Deputy Editor in Chief, Meikudi Ashiat a 400 level of English Language, she expressed her joy for being among the selected participants and her wish of utilising the training.
“The selection came as a surprise to me because I didn’t expect it and I’m equally grateful for the opportunity to learn with veteran journalists and share insight. The training will be a milestone in gaining more knowledge on journalism.”
Also, Isiaq Ibrahim, a 400 level of Primary Education student and managing editor expressed his excitement over the selection
His words:”It is a great achievement for which I believe will lay a pathway for me to thrive more and further in Journalism.
“To this, with my journalistic skills I have acquired, I will make this fellowship a great one that will shape my future in Journalism.”
Muheeb Mashood and a 300-Level student of Law double as news and sport editor also expressed his delightment over the training program.
According to him, he believes that the training will widen his journalistic knowledge.
“He said,” I’m really glad to have been selected as one of the trainees out of a pool of entries received by media platforms.
“This training will expose me to different kinds of networks. And networking is one of the greatest opportunities one can have in a journalism field,” he said.
Other Selected members of the News Digest Press includes, Abudlrasaq Kamaldeen, Abdulganiyu Abdulazeez, Imam Taofeeq and Mutalib Jubril.
