By Abubakar Shamsudeen

The managing editor of The News Digest Press, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS), Isiaq Ibrahim has been selected for 6-months Journalism for Liberty Fellowship (The Liberarist), cohort 3.

Isiaq Ibrahim is a 400-level student of Primary Education, Department of Adult Education and Extension Services, Faculty of Education and Extension Services, UDUS.

The Liberarist is an online magazine that promotes pro-freedom ideas for human flourishing. To explore thought-provoking articles, The Liberarist aimed to become the leading voice of liberty in Africa and envision a world of free and flourishing individuals.

Founded in 2022, it is a group of young Nigerians who saw the need for a voice of reason and optimism in a country plagued by human rights abuse and excessive government power, where anti-freedom ideas are popular.

Following the selection, the fellowship for this summer session is scheduled to run from July to December 2024, which will expose the participants to advance the cause of freedom and liberty through Journalism, and provide a chance to contribute meaningfully to the discourse on liberty and pro-freedom ideas.

While speaking with The News Digest Press, Isiaq Ibrahim extended his warm regard to Almighty Allah for the opportunity he gave him to be among the successfully selected participants for the fellowship.

“I applied for this same fellowship last year (cohort 2) but I was not chosen. I give thanks to Allah for making this year’s selection favor me,” he said.

Ibrahim advises those that are aspiring to be selected for fellowship to keep trying and never give up on reapplying. Because it is only those who give up that fuck up.

He further appreciates his parents for their grateful support both financially and mentally.

“I will be forever grateful to you my dear parents, brothers, sisters and friends. Thanks for all you do,” he said.
