There are personalities like who can pull a crowd with charisma to pass as a motivation or rather stand a chance in stand-up comedy and move the masses to tears by assuring hope with what I call “emotional propaganda.”
Such a joke is related to the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the just concluded presidential election. Well, this is not to serve you breakfast but fact is, it’s kind of funny. How can a devil wake up overnight and become an angel? How can you, all of a sudden call the system you used to believe in lies, and tag people bad just because your dreams were not represented?
You don’t need to believe me when I say Nigerians aren’t tired of the big bosses, they are just being sentimental and I will say the just concluded election has been the most interesting since independence.
There is no big deal in voting PDP and APC out, but why not allow new faces. I mean the chance shouldn’t have gone to an Ally of the dominant parties mentioned above. Recall that Atiku Abubakar once supported president Muhammadu Buhari, and that Peter Obi was once the vice presidential candidate to Atiku Abubakar during the 2019 general election. Making it crystal clear that these parties are the same, it’s just a fallacy of circumstance that’s made them split.
Further, Obi won’t leave the People’s Democratic Party, if he had a chance during the primaries, but he left because he was power thirsty, just like the game demands. Obi enjoyed one thing referred to as “the gains of rejection”.
You don’t get it? Let me take you there, it’s no news that the majority of Christians stood against the Muslim-Muslim ticket proposed by the ruling party All Progressive Congress, having the president elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Senator Kazeem Shettima as the flag bearer of the party. However this didn’t go well with the Christian majority, which made them vowed their allegiance for the opposition.
Another thing is that, Atiku Abubakar would have been the best to benefit from Asiwaju’s rejection. But having someone like Obi was foreseen to be of great advantage for them. So they chose to stand by him.
Talking of track records, Obi didn’t stand a chance to defeat any of the duos against him, but the East together with the Christian majority earned the former governor that heavy wave.
Conclusively, revolting is never a bad idea, I mean Asiwaju might be bad, Atiku might not be good enough but believe me Peter Obi is no saint either.
