Hussain Wahab reports
Abraham Abraham, a 400level chemistry student of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto who was earlier exposed by the News Digest Press as the man behind the inscription of the strange red signs on campus. The signs bended cross and four arrowheads which were drawn on walls and boards around the campus, especially along the famous Jata’u bridge and the hostels’ area, has requested the university Dean Students’ Affairs to have a live interaction with him on Instagram.
According to him, he said in a recent video released through his Instagram handle @Broccoliandjuice that he received several messages; some vilifying his conduct and some calling him for engagement.
His words: “I’ve been getting tons of messages from you guys some negative, some positive and some questionable. Some of you have been asking that we should engage in having interaction.
“Before that will happen, I need you guys to actually call out your Dean Students’ Affair and tell him, that we should have a conversation where everybody is involved.
“We will also have students asking questions. It will be on my Instagram live, so there would not be like the cut of any form of things,” Abraham stated.
‘Our Offices Are for Students And Always Open’ — Dean Reacts
In an exclusive interview session with the university Dean Students’ Affairs, Prof Muhammad Aminu Mode, he said meeting any student is not a problem but the proper procedures must be strictly adhered to.
“Our offices are for students and always open. If he truly wants to have a conversation with me, he should come,” the Dean said.
What The School Has Done So Far
“His name is Abraham Abraham, with our investigations we gathered that he is a 400level student from the chemistry department. An indigene of Kaduna State, a Kataf by tribe,” confirmed the university Chief Security Officer, Col. Abdullahi Gwandu, while briefing the News Digest Press in his office at the Ahmadu Bello House(UDUS VC’s Complex).
He continued, “We have gone the extra length to get all the numbers he had been discussing with and We have sent them to the Director of State Security(DSS). DSS are already on their investigation as an external security organisation to the university.
Also, the Chief Security Officer said the management have been trying to preserve the serene atmosphere of the university and make sure all the culprits are brought to book to face the wrath of the law. He said all hands are on desk to fight Broccoliandjuice’s mission for it is against the ethics of any sane human gathering.
“Here(on campus), the matter has also been referred to the school social media committee chaired by Prof. Aminu Bawa, and his team will dig into all the social media interactions of Abraham and his team,” the CSO disclosed.
‘Our Security Needs To Be Tightened‘
According to a student who spoke to The News Digest Press on condition of anonymity, said the school should see the whole situation as a big challenge and make sure all students involved should be punished to serve as deterrence to other students.
He said, “Though his action initially caused and distracted public peace. But I am wondering how could he paint such that signs to different places and no security caught him while doing such. The answer is that our security needs to be tightened.
Similarly, while reacting to the News Digest Press’s investigative piece that exposed Abraham(Broccoliandjuice) as the main man behind the strange signs in UDUS, many comments from the students pray to the school management to take drastic actions to curtail this kind of movement in UDUS campus.
“Well, this is what UDUS authorities should take note of. His action has the tendency to inspire other people with similar Intentions to try something the same way he did his own. This is the reason why his action should not be welcomed. All-in-all, I think he’s sent a good message,” said one of the students.
