Isiaq Ibrahim, a 300-level student of Primary Education at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto has emerged the winner of NEWS DIGEST’s journalist for the month of May 2023.
News Digest Journalist of the Month is an encouragement honor given to a member of the press outfit who has performed excellently in the previous month.
The announcement was made during the Digest Editorial meeting held on Thursday, 1st June at the Students’ Union Secretariat.
An indigene of Shao, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, Isiaq Ibrahim is a senior reporter with the NEWS DIGEST PRESS, a campus journalist who writes features, news stories and opinions.
In an Interview with the News Digest Press, he expressed his gratitude, adding that it serves as a source of inspiration to him.
“I feel honored as I bagged Digest Journalist of the best press outlet,”he said.
“I would like to urge every member of the News Digest Press to keep writing and never give up on writing. Because a time will come when you will feel on top of the world with your writing skills. People are out there waiting for your beautiful writing skills to read on. Don’t relent.”
“To be candid, this serves as an inspiration for me to do more,” he added.
Meanwhile, Lamid Azeez Arisekola, a 100-level law student bagged the category of the Rookie Journalist of the month.
The News Digest Press Rookie of the month award is to motivate performing members, particularly among the new in-takes, and encourage others to keep the flag of this outfit being the best news platform on UDUS campus.
Azeez, who hailed from Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, said the honor came as a surprise to him.
“At first, I was surprised when I was announced as the winner of the Rookie category because I never expected it.”
