After JAMB Admission, What Next; An Open Letter to UDUS Newly Admitted Students and Aspirants

BY HUSSAIN WAHAB

With utmost excitement running on my mind, I will like to congratulate the newly admitted students, and pre-emptively welcome you to the most peaceful and stringent university in Nigeria. I don’t need to explain the ‘toughness’. They say seeing is believing. With time you will understand it better. I know the most disturbing question to the admitted candidates now is ‘what next?’. What should be my next line of action after I have confirmed my congratulatory status on CAPS? See, there is nothing more than to start packing packable packages.

The city of the caliphate is beeping yellow light. Once the school releases her admission, the yellow light will automatically change to green light, meaning: The odyssey journey has started. When the time comes, you should not forget even a ‘pin’ in your documents.

The following are the materials needed for the screening:

JAMB original result

JAMB admission letter

school admission printout

Acceptance fee print out

TSHIP payment

Students’ account printout

Passports (This could be gotten even in school mini-mart)

The candidates must come along with these, as they cannot be gotten in school.

Primary school Certificate/testimonial

Secondary School Testimonial

Birth certificate

State of origin certificate

O’level result

Statement of result or Original result if available

If you mistakenly miss any of the aforementioned documents, it will serve as an automatic ticket to go back home even if you have come to Sokoto from the moon. In fact, an ordinary primary school testimony was what sent my friend back to Kwara during our screening days.

And to those who are yet to be admitted among the aspirants who satisfied the admission requirement, I will say don’t be panic and you should not be pessimistic. In fact, you should calm down and optimistic like never before. You still have a great chance of gaining admission because the school is yet to release her admission. There are living testimonies who were denied admission by the CAPS but were eventually given via the school portal.

Also, another thing that is worthwhile for our discussion is the issue of ‘trap admission’. This thing is real and you should know that, please. Some aspirants chosen courses will be changed to another course despite beating the cut-off mark. For instance, A candidate from Kwara who chose law with a 260 Jamb score might be offered linguistics and would be trapped to accept or forfeit his admission for that year.

Dear candidate, whenever this happened to you, I beg you, don’t be in haste to accept it because the CAPS/school might later consider you for your preferred course within a reasonable time. However, if you had accepted the changed course immediately, there is a high tendency that you might not be considered for your preferred course again.

In the end, if you are not fortunate enough to be admitted as a student of UDUS despite satisfying all the required marks, do not say that the school is biased. It might mean that there are many people ahead and above you. Surely, what God’s decree would prevail. To the best of my knowledge and experience as a student of UDUS, there is no room for injustice in the realm of the school’s affair. Every man shall be given his or her due.

Lest I forget, pertaining to the collection of confirmation letter, you don’t need to rush to Sokoto. You should wait as it’s not sure that it will commence this week. We are with you, and we will let you know when it’s time.

Welcome to the most peaceful university in Nigeria. Kindly accept my congratulatory message!
